Back at House, 9:05 AM
This week we are preparing the move to the better, bigger house, which lies on the other side of the Ring Road, inside Kathmandu. I will be leaving in a few minutes to go and help with the cleaning. Brian and I will discuss my work for this coming week later this afternoon.
I just ate some yak meat for breakfast. It tasted okay, better with salt. The beefy texture tasted rather bland overall, but there was a distinct fatty flavor I cannot quite describe. I am not a huge fan of the meat they serve here. The chicken is the best, I think. I could get used to it though. Yesterday I had momo, a meat wrapped in flour, which I didn't care for that much. I also tried bahni puri, which is a kind of potato dipped in a spicy watery sauce. It's fast food. The man at the stand on the side of the road took the potato thing in his grimy hands, dunked it in the watery sauce, and put it on a plate. I forced it down, and I must say, it is quite tasty. The aftertaste is the best part. It also clears your sinuses fairly well!
Gotta go get ready for the day! Happy Birthday Mom! And Happy Birthday, literally, to my nephew Gabriel, born two days ago.
